At the FileMaker Developer’s Conference which we attend every year, a dramatic new announcement was made to all attendees. FileMaker, Inc is expanding their digital footprint, and adding in additional tools to extend the capability of FileMaker far out into the web-connected world and into the future. In order to accommodate this expanded focus, the company is changing their corporate name to “Claris”.

The FileMaker product will continue to be named the same; just the name of its corporation has changed.

Some of you who have been around for awhile will recognize that name from the past, as the previous name of the corporation. So the circle of life has returned back to the original name! They recognized that the name which means “clarity” is a great term for the future of this software product because it will help companies to become very clearly focused on what will give them success, by automating their business operations. Plus Claris corporation will be adding in additional products in the near future. These future products will better align with the new name than the old.

So FileMaker will continue to be so named, and will continue to do what it has always done, only better. And then in the near-term we will be seeing cool new technologies which will allow FileMaker to do an even better job of connecting to our interconnected webbed world!
