FileMaker Pro has had support for iBeacons for several years now. But with FileMaker 17, some new functions were added which can capture sensor support from iOS devices.
Using a new calculation function mobile apps can capture information from iOS sensors in your iPad or iPhone device including location, air pressure, accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, barometer, and battery level.
This is really amazing stuff! (to put it technically 😉
Now a FileMaker app can take advantage of sensors and report that back to the user or to the application. Location, for example, is key, as we want to know if the employees are clocking in at the job site, or somewhere else. Not so sure about air pressure, magnetometer, and barometer, unless you are building a storm-tracking app!
But the cool part of this is that now with FileMaker, you can take advantage of sophisticated data available to the iPhone or iPad. The data has always been there, but now FileMaker can help you track it.
