One of the top players in the No-Code Software category is FileMaker by Claris.
What is No Code software?
Also sometimes called ‘low code’ software it is a special category of software which is easier to pick up and start using by the average person. In many cases, very little computer science education is required in order to start using this software type. This has always been one of the strengths of FileMaker, and why it is so appealing to such a large swatch of the computer using public. Not everyone has a computer science degree and feels comfortable with the likes of Python or C++. But FileMaker has always been quite approachable in its appeal to the typical business who has some at least some passing computer skills.
This is not to say that FileMaker has absolutely no-code, because it does, and sometimes quite a bit for the more complex operations. But it has historically been a ‘point and click’ sort of software. With its set of visible script steps and functions, it has been easy for users to simply click on the script steps they want to build and then very quickly test that script to see if it works for them. FileMaker doesn’t even call it code; the terminology they use is “scripts” and “the script workspace”.
The beautify of this for the average business owner is that the software is approachable; they can start using it. Then if things get too tricky, they can hire a company like ours, but for the more simple stuff, they can do it themselves.
